Betfred, the bookmaker founded by Fred Done, is actively exploring entry into the Adult Gaming Centre space, also known as slot arcades, according to reports. The Warrington-based operator announced on 31 July 2026 that it would close 132 shops across the UK, representing around 10% of its total retail footprint. The closures will result in approximately 600 job losses, dealing a significant blow to Betfred’s workforce across the country. The decision follows the near-doubling of Remote Gaming Duty earlier in the year, with Betting Duty also set to rise from April next year. Joanne Whittaker, CEO of Betfred, said: “These…

The Court of Appeal has dismissed a legal challenge from The New Lottery Company and Northern & Shell seeking to overturn the award of the fourth UK National Lottery licence to Allwyn. Allwyn was granted the licence in March 2022, beating competition from The New Lottery Company, Italy’s Sisal, and incumbent operator Camelot to secure the deal. Both The New Lottery Company and Northern & Shell had alleged before the High Court that the Gambling Commission wrongly awarded the licence, arguing The New Lottery Company should have won instead. The High Court dismissed those claims in April, also rejecting allegations…

Caesars Entertainment has reported a narrower second-quarter net loss, with its regional casino division providing a meaningful buffer against continued softness in Las Vegas. Net revenue climbed 3% to $2.99bn from $2.91bn in the same period a year earlier, continuing the momentum the company established with growth in the first quarter of 2026. The net loss for the quarter fell to $62m from $82m, representing $0.30 per share compared with $0.39 per share in the prior-year period. Despite the revenue improvement, consolidated adjusted EBITDA dropped 3.7% to $920m from $955m, meaning the top-line gains did not fully translate into earnings…

EvenBet Gaming has tripled its workforce between 2022 and 2026, expanding from 87 to 260 professionals while operating entirely as a remote-first organisation. The company’s growth stands in sharp contrast to the broader tech sector, where major global firms have enforced rigid return-to-office mandates and faced significant talent attrition as a result. Chief Human Resources Officer Daria Fot and Chief Customer Officer Nikita Akulov sat down to explain how EvenBet Gaming built what they describe as a corporate “immune system” capable of sustaining rapid expansion. Fot argues that the industry’s instinct to solve cultural challenges by measuring desk time misses…
