Bombay Group has permanently shut its Bombay Club casino in Tallinn’s Old Town, ending the high-roller venue’s short-lived run after only two years.
The closure marks a significant retreat for the group, which had pivoted away from online gambling to pursue a premium land-based casino operation.
The Bombay Club project represented a substantial investment, with more than five years of renovation work carried out on the 5,000-square-metre site.
The venue was located adjacent to Tallinn’s Town Hall Square, occupying a grand space that was intended to attract high-end players from across Europe.
Alongside the casino itself, the Michelin-recognised restaurant Shang Shi formed a central part of the club’s original concept and will close its doors on 15 November.
The casino ceased operations on 30 September, with customers now being directed to withdraw any remaining funds from their accounts before the end of the month.
In a notice issued to customers, the company stated: “This was not an easy decision, and we are truly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey.”
Customers holding funds in their Yolo Wallet have been instructed to transfer the money to their bank accounts by 30 November 2026.
Bombay Group’s online brands, Yolo.com and Bombaycasino.com, have also gone offline as the company scales back its broader involvement in B2C gambling operations.
Bombay Club employees now face redundancy, though the company has not confirmed the total number of positions affected by the closure.
Maarja Pärt, a member of Yolo Group’s supervisory board, told reporters that the company is consulting employees as part of the collective redundancy process and assessing each role individually.
Bombay Group and its parent company, Yolo Group, had already announced significant job cuts as part of a wider restructuring effort last year.
The Michelin-recognised hotel The Burman, also part of the group’s portfolio, will continue to operate despite the wider pullback from gambling ventures.
Earlier, then-CEO of Bombay Group, Anita Brinke, had stated: “Yolo Group has invested a lot of resources into setting up Bombay for success, and we are now expanding the operations to start delivering against our ambitious strategic direction.”
The closure underlines how difficult it has proven for operators to translate online gambling success into sustainable high-end land-based casino businesses.
