Gaming In Spain Conference Reveals Full Agenda Ahead Of October 2026 Event

Spain’s regulated gambling sector is preparing for one of its most significant conferences yet, with the 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference set for Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The event will be held at the Auditorio ECIJA in Madrid, bringing together a wide range of industry stakeholders for a full day of discussion.

Organisers have confirmed that the agenda will cover some of the most pressing regulatory and commercial challenges currently facing Spain’s licensed iGaming market.

Key topics include the implementation of cross-operator deposit limits, the DGOJ’s central problem gambling detection algorithm, fraud prevention, and anti-money laundering measures.

The conference will also examine the future permissibility of new products, including prediction betting and sweepstakes, as well as strategies to counter offshore offerings under the #ReclaimTheMarket initiative.

Spain’s licensed operators are now weeks away from their first practical encounter with a centralised deposit limit system that tracks every player’s deposits in real time across all licensed platforms.

The Council of Ministers approved Royal Decree 520/2026 on 23 June, which was published in the Boletín Oficial del Estado two days later.

The decree inserts a new Article 36 bis into Royal Decree 1614/2011, creating a system of joint deposit limits per player that aggregates deposits across every operator where a participant holds an account.

A new Annex III sets the default thresholds at €700 per day, €1,750 per week, and €3,300 across any four continuous weeks.

Alongside the main programme, a breakout session on promotional strategies in Spain will be led by MDF Partners’ Mario Chamorro, with further breakouts still to be announced.

The presence of Spain’s National Police on the conference agenda has been noted as unusual for a commercial iGaming event.

Gaming in Spain founder Willem van Oort said: “I am extremely happy that we managed to bring together so many key stakeholders, representing the regulator, licensed operators, suppliers, and even Spain’s National Police.”

Van Oort added: “I think this is representative of what Gaming in Spain and, more broadly, Gaming in Europe are trying to achieve, which is facilitating the kind of discussions that help foster long-term sustainability for regulated gambling.”

Registration for the 2026 Gaming in Spain Conference is now open, with organisers describing the event as one that cannot be missed given the scale of regulatory change currently underway in the Spanish market.
