Genius Sports CEO Mark Locke Says Company Profits No Matter How Prediction Markets Battle Plays Out

Genius Sports CEO Mark Locke has made clear that his company is positioned to win regardless of how the prediction markets regulatory debate ultimately resolves.

Speaking during the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call, Locke described prediction markets as the “most visible example” of revenue opportunities created by the firm’s acquisition of sports media business Legend.

Locke acknowledged that the rapid growth of prediction markets is already validating the Legend acquisition, with synergies arriving ahead of schedule across multiple business lines.

The CEO noted that customer acquisition, official data supply, and commercial partnerships are all delivering strong early returns following the deal being completed.

Locke acknowledged “there is a battle” between sportsbooks and prediction markets competing for customers, and that this competition is “clearly causing the premium space to be elevated in price.”

He added: “Through Legend, we now own the best customer acquisition platform out there for any of the prediction markets or sportsbook operators.”

Locke was direct about the financial impact, stating: “We’re reaping the rewards on that in quite an immediate and aggressive way. We’re seeing strong growth in the space as a result of it.”

Beyond customer acquisition, prediction markets are generating opportunities across the wider Genius Sports business, including official data supply, pricing services, and market-making capabilities.

Genius Sports confirmed commercial deals with prediction market leaders Kalshi and Polymarket, alongside its existing relationships with major sportsbook operators such as DraftKings and FanDuel.

The company supplies official data, settlement services, and integrity monitoring to platforms on both sides of the regulatory debate, giving it exposure across the entire market structure.

Through the Legend platform and its wider media operation, Genius is also positioned as a leading customer acquisition engine for whichever operators ultimately attract the most users.

This means Genius Sports profits whether prediction markets continue to grow, face regulatory restriction, or lose ground to traditional licensed sportsbooks in the United States.

As Locke’s comments suggest, prediction markets did not invent demand for wagering on sporting outcomes but instead offer another route to express it, making the underlying data infrastructure consistently valuable.

Genius Sports supplies all three sides of the market equation, connecting official data to platforms, pricing to liquidity providers, and customers to operators through its media assets.

That structural position gives the company a durable commercial advantage that competitors tied to specific platform models or regulatory outcomes simply cannot match.
