Playson has been shaping a clear commercial direction since welcoming Chief Commercial Officer Ben Wood to the team in November 2025.
Wood brings more than 15 years of experience across iGaming suppliers and operators, now leading Playson’s global commercial strategy across regulated and emerging markets.
Rather than chasing new licences indiscriminately, Playson has built a repeatable model centred on compliant content, scalable technology, and proven engagement tools across almost 30 regulated jurisdictions.
Wood describes the next phase of expansion as one that should move beyond simply putting “more flags on the map,” favouring selective, evidence-led growth instead.
The strategy involves deepening share in priority markets and entering new regulated jurisdictions only where the business case is clearly established from the outset.
Concrete examples of this approach include multi-brand UK rollouts such as Bally’s Intralot and entry into Colombia through a partnership with Rush Street Interactive following Coljuegos certification in February.
Wood explains that the best commercial strategies are now built around three layers: compliant content, reliable infrastructure, and engagement tools that help operators retain and reactivate players.
African expansion has followed the same disciplined logic, with Playson entering Nigeria through Sportybet and Kenya through Betika, a partner also active with the supplier in Uganda.
In Asia, securing PAGCOR approval in the Philippines represented another calculated move, with distribution enabled through Light and Wonder and the project delivered through coordinated sales, integration, architecture, and compliance work.
Wood is equally clear about the balance between deepening existing market share and entering new territories, describing it as “a portfolio decision, not a choice between old and new markets.”
European partnerships including Hommerson Casino, Goldrun Casino in the Netherlands, StarVegas, and Admiral in Switzerland demonstrate the value of strengthening presence where regulation and player demand are already proven.
Wood stresses that regulated-market success is transferable across regions but “never copy-paste,” with each market requiring its own combination of local knowledge, operator relationships, and product adaptation.
Playson’s promotional ecosystem, including tools such as Blasts and Races network campaigns, jackpots, and tournaments, is designed to improve operator acquisition, retention, and average revenue per customer.
Wood concludes that the most successful expansion model in 2026 combines content with infrastructure, compliance, data, promotions, and partnership depth, forming a complete ecosystem that helps operators grow sustainably.
