Blask Index Reveals World Cup 2026 Betting Demand Peaked During Group Matchday 1 Across Most Tracked Markets

Blask data shows that betting-brand demand for World Cup 2026 peaked before the final in most tracked markets, with the finding holding up across three separate analytical cuts.

The Blask Index, a search-driven demand signal for iGaming brands, recorded 24 of 43 tracked countries hitting their single highest day of World Cup 2026 demand during Group Matchday 1, covering the opening round between 11 and 17 June.

Belgium and Switzerland both reached the quarter-finals yet never surpassed their opening-week demand numbers again, illustrating how early momentum rarely carries through to later rounds.

Where peaks landed later in the tournament, they consistently matched a country’s own knockout-stage match, regardless of whether that team won or lost.

Canada, Mexico, and Paraguay all peaked on the Round of 16 losses that ended their respective tournaments between 4 and 5 July, while Colombia and France peaked on wins that temporarily kept them alive before exiting in subsequent rounds.

Breaking the 43-country dataset into three separate analytical blocks reveals a more precise picture than any single headline figure alone can provide.

The first block, based on timing, shows demand is not a straight decline from opening week but rather front-loads heavily, dips through the middle of the group stage, then rebounds briefly when individual countries are eliminated before fading sharply.

Opening week accounts for 24 countries, group-stage matchdays two and three claim seven, the knockout rounds from the Round of 32 through the quarter-finals take 10, and only two countries peaked during the semifinal-through-final window.

The second block examines whether peaks were driven by a country’s own team participation, and 37 of the 43 peaks tie directly to the country’s own match, whether an opening game, pre-match anticipation, or a knockout result.

Germany presents the most notable exception, as its Blask Index peak fell on 4 July, five days after the national team was eliminated on penalties to Paraguay in the Round of 32 on 29 June.

Turkiye, Congo DR, Austria, Korea Republic, and Jordan make up the remaining five countries in this six-country group whose peaks do not correspond to their own team’s participation.

Blask flags all six of those dates as falling inside the tournament’s backfill-risk window, meaning those Index values could still shift as more underlying data settles into place.

The third block weights each country’s peak by demand value rather than simply counting countries, and opening week still leads by a considerable margin with a combined 17.0M across all tracked markets.

Mid-group demand value reached 6.5M while the knockout window recorded 6.7M, figures that are far closer together than the raw country-count view in the first block would suggest.

Brazil’s 11.1M opening-week peak and Turkiye’s 4.0M knockout-window peak each carry their respective buckets almost entirely on their own, accounting for much of the disparity between windows.

The final stretch, covering the semi-finals through to the trophy presentation, registers just 1.1M in combined demand value, representing roughly 3% of the total across all tracked markets.

None of the three analytical cuts overturns the central finding, but together they narrow and sharpen it considerably for operators and media planners looking to act on the data.

Opening week remains the dominant window by both country count and demand value, confirming that any media plan leading there is positioning itself in the right place.

The more nuanced planning insight is that the second-largest value bucket is not a gradual mid-tournament decay but rather each country’s own knockout exit, a trigger best planned country by country rather than assumed on a single calendar curve.

Blask is an AI-native B2B iGaming market-intelligence platform serving operators, affiliates, game providers, and investors with country-level demand tracking, brand power analysis, and games visibility data across global iGaming markets.
