Altenar Fights To Keep Sportradar Data Lawsuit In US Courts As Zurich Arbitration Battle Heats Up

Altenar has announced it will actively oppose any attempt by Sportradar to move an ongoing data rights lawsuit away from US jurisdiction.

The sportsbook technology provider confirmed to SBC that it intends to block all efforts to relocate the case from the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Sportradar, the Nasdaq-listed sports technology group, is reportedly attempting to force private arbitration in Zurich to settle the dispute outside American courts.

The conflict centres on data rights and controls tied to US professional sports leagues, making the New Jersey federal court a highly relevant venue for the proceedings.

Altenar argues that relocating the case to Switzerland would hand Sportradar a significant procedural and geographic advantage in what is described as a multimillion-dollar dispute.

This legal clash represents the second major lawsuit brought against Sportradar in roughly two years, highlighting growing tensions in the sports data industry.

In March 2025, real-time sports data firm Sportscastr, operating as PANDA Interactive, expanded an existing patent infringement lawsuit against Sportradar to include anti-competitive complaints.

That case also named Genius Sports as a defendant, with both companies accused of locking access to their data behind the compulsory purchase of their own products.

The antitrust claims against Sportradar in that matter were ultimately dismissed with prejudice by Judge Rodney Gilstrap at the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on 9 April 2026.

Altenar is now raising broadly similar competition concerns, bringing fresh scrutiny to how Sportradar manages access to professional league data.

Central to Altenar’s case is the allegation that Sportradar is ringfencing its pro-league data while simultaneously operating in the competitive sportsbook market through its own platform, ORAKO.

Sportradar also owns betting technology supplier NSoft, which Altenar argues compounds the anti-competitive nature of the data access arrangements currently in place.

Critics of such arrangements suggest that controlling exclusive data pipelines while running competing products creates an uneven playing field for independent operators.

The outcome of this jurisdictional battle could set an important precedent for how data disputes involving European sports technology firms are handled by American courts.

With the iGaming and sports betting industries increasingly dependent on real-time data, the stakes of this case extend well beyond Altenar and Sportradar alone.
