George Daskalakis, the co-founder and chief executive of Kaizen Gaming, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire a minority stake in Bristol City.
Daskalakis is working alongside co-investor Sandford Loudon, a financier and banker with significant experience across sports and gaming deals.
Loudon’s advisory firm, Oakvale Capital, has been involved in a string of transactions spanning both the sports and gaming sectors in recent years.
Kaizen Gaming is the parent company behind gambling brands including Betano, which served as the front-of-shirt sponsor for Premier League club Aston Villa until last season.
Aston Villa, it should be noted, were Europa League winners, making the Betano association one of the more prominent shirt sponsorship deals in recent English football history.
Daskalakis and Loudon are understood to have been targeting an investment in Bristol City for some time before the current negotiations advanced to this stage.
The pair are said to be closing in on an agreement with Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown, who has had an interest in the club for close to 30 years.
Lansdown is reported to have invested around £280m of the fortune he made from co-founding financial services firm Hargreaves Lansdown into the Championship club over that period.
Bristol City, known as the Robins, lost their opening game of the 2026-27 Championship season against Millwall, though they remain an established fixture in English football’s second tier.
It remains unclear whether the talks include any clause granting Daskalakis the right to increase his syndicate’s stake to majority control at a later date.
A Bristol City spokesperson declined to comment on the reported negotiations, as did a spokesman representing Daskalakis’s investor group.
Should a deal be confirmed, it would represent one of the most high-profile crossovers between the iGaming industry and English football club ownership seen in recent times.
