Polina Koltunova Explains How Kendoo Is Redefining Multi-Pot Slot Mechanics

Multi-pot slots have become one of the most successful mechanics in modern slot development, transforming familiar gameplay by introducing multiple reward objectives and stronger session progression.

Not every pot slot title manages to retain players over time, and understanding why requires a closer look at design philosophy rather than surface-level features.

Polina Koltunova, chief product officer at the studio behind Kendoo’s slots, has shared her perspective on why multi-pot mechanics have become a key driver of player engagement across the industry.

Kendoo’s foundational approach to three-pot design was built on a single guiding principle: every player should immediately understand the purpose of each pot.

Rather than designing pots for visual spectacle, each one was given a unique function and a distinct feature that contributed meaningfully to the overall gameplay experience.

This philosophy shaped titles like 3 Fortune Trees, where the Multiplier, Collect, and Mystery pots each unlock a different bonus feature within the Hold and Win Bonus Game.

The same approach carries into 3 Gates of Pyramid, one of Kendoo’s top-performing titles, where players unlock modifiers for the Free Spins round rather than traditional Hold and Win features.

Those modifiers include Rise, which expands the reels, Boost, which adds an extra reel with Collect symbols, and Extra, which awards additional Free Spins to extend the session.

Each modifier delivers genuine impact independently, but their combined effect creates a significantly more rewarding bonus experience that keeps players returning across longer sessions.

This design discipline has produced measurable results, with player sessions on Kendoo’s pot titles averaging over 500 rounds, reflecting the engagement that clear progression mechanics can generate.

When Kendoo expanded to four-pot design, the goal was never simply to add another pot, but to ensure that synergy between pots amplified engagement and created more varied gameplay combinations.

In 4 Egypt Scarabs, four independent features including Power, Expand, Multi, and Collect combine to produce 15 unique feature combinations, preventing any two bonus rounds from feeling identical.

The mythological theme, high-quality artwork, dynamic animations, and immersive sound design have helped 4 Egypt Scarabs secure its position as one of Kendoo’s best-performing titles to date.

Kendoo has continued building on that four-pot framework through titles like 4 Fire Rockets, which introduces the Life Feature alongside an evolved pot system, and 4 Gold Carts, which adapts the proven structure to a fresh theme.

The studio’s Master Pot concept represents the next stage of progression mechanics, functioning not as a fifth pot but as a higher-level objective built on top of the core pot system.

Rather than acting as a standalone reward, the Master Pot unlocks an enhanced bonus configuration by combining multiple unlocked features with a premium modifier, creating a more valuable end-goal for players.

For operators, multi-pot mechanics deliver benefits beyond exciting gameplay, as titles with visible progression and multiple reward paths naturally stand out in competitive game lobbies.

Following the launch of its first Master Pot title in October, Kendoo plans to release additional four-pot games before the end of 2026, expanding the portfolio with new themes, mechanics, and combinations.

Koltunova and the Kendoo team remain focused on ensuring that as multi-pot mechanics evolve, the real differentiator remains not the number of pots but how effectively they work together.

The studio’s position is clear: meaningful progression, greater gameplay variety, and long-term value for both players and operators will continue to define every new release in the Kendoo portfolio.
