Reading FC has announced a record front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Mr Vegas, signalling the club’s ambition to grow its commercial value heading into the 2026/27 season.
The agreement places responsible gambling at the heart of all commercial activations, with player safety reminders and support tools for at-risk customers central to the partnership’s public-facing output.
The timing of the deal is significant, given that front-of-shirt gambling sponsorships will be banned from the Premier League from next season onwards.
Reading FC competes in Football League One, meaning the club remains unaffected by the top-flight restriction and free to pursue such deals with gambling operators.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, has confirmed an extended arrangement with Kaizen-owned Betano that will see the operator’s branding shift from the front of the shirt to the club’s sleeves.
The original front-of-shirt deal began in 2024, and the updated agreement secures Betano’s presence on the Villa kit through at least the 2028/29 season.
The move demonstrates how clubs and their gambling partners are adapting to the new Premier League restrictions, finding workable alternatives rather than walking away from long-standing commercial relationships entirely.
Betano’s transition to sleeve branding makes clear that the phasing out of front-of-shirt deals does not necessarily spell the end of major gambling sponsorships in English football’s top division.
Betting exchange Matchbook has secured an official partnership with cricket club Welsh Fire, bringing its Matchbook Predictions brand to a new audience just ahead of The Hundred 2026 tournament.
The England and Wales Cricket Board opened The Hundred to gambling firm sponsorships earlier this year as an emergency measure, helping teams that were still struggling to attract commercial backing.
Welsh Fire will use the Matchbook Predictions partnership to create exclusive fan experiences and behind-the-scenes content throughout the summer competition.
Sweden’s horseracing totalizator board, ATG, has upgraded the format of its ATG Riders League jumping series, aiming to drive greater engagement with the sport and boost the overall value of Swedish equestrian competition.
The revamped event took place during the Westcoast Equestrian Week at Åbytravet, with the new format introducing four qualification heats to the competition’s structure.
ATG’s decision to refresh the event’s format reflects a broader industry trend of operators and rights holders actively investing in the presentation and reach of the sports they support.
Across all four announcements, the week illustrated how gambling operators and sporting organisations are continuing to find new and creative ways to work together despite an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
