FIFA has confirmed that no match-fixing suspicions were identified at any point during the entirety of the 2026 World Cup tournament.

The governing body for international association football deployed its sports integrity monitoring taskforce across all 104 games played during the competition.

The taskforce operated at full capacity throughout the tournament, examining every match for signs of betting-related manipulation or suspicious activity.

FIFA centralised the monitoring process by collecting betting reports and relevant data submitted by each of its taskforce member organisations.

Large-scale coordination between multiple organisations allowed for a thorough and consistent review of betting patterns across the entire competition.

The clean bill of health will reassure the more than one billion people who followed the tournament, confirming that Spain’s championship victory was entirely legitimate.

Football is widely regarded as one of the most at-risk sports globally when it comes to match-fixing, making the outcome of this monitoring effort particularly significant.

The results are being viewed as a major endorsement of the integrity framework FIFA and its partners have built around major international tournaments.

Liam Rich, FIFA’s Senior Integrity Manager, praised all organisations involved and said: “The FIFA Integrity Task Force provided a strong framework during the FIFA World Cup 2026 for sharing intelligence, assessing potential concerns and coordinating a timely response.”

Rich added: “We thank all Task Force members for their expertise and commitment during the competition and we look forward to building on this collaboration at future FIFA tournaments.”

The findings are expected to strengthen confidence among bettors, broadcasters, and football fans heading into future FIFA events and competitions.

FIFA’s proactive approach to integrity monitoring sets a benchmark that other sports governing bodies may look to replicate at their own major international tournaments.
