LSports, a leading provider of real-time sports data solutions, has partnered with artificial intelligence company gripAI to bring a new Play Insurance product to sportsbook operators globally.
Play Insurance allows bettors to protect their wagers for a small, AI-calculated premium, giving players a payout regardless of the final outcome of their bet.
The amount paid back to insured players is scaled according to how close the bet came to winning, calculated using live match statistics and real-time data.
For sportsbook operators, the product is designed to open an entirely new revenue stream on top of existing handle without sacrificing margin control.
The collaboration targets the near-miss moment in betting, which has long been identified as one of the most significant points at which operators lose player engagement and loyalty.
Yoav Ziv, CRO at LSports, said: “Retention is one of the hardest problems our operators face, and the near-miss is where they lose players.”
Ziv added: “Play Insurance turns that exact moment into loyalty and a new revenue line, without giving anything away. It’s a genuinely new category, and pairing gripAI’s technology with our reach and our data gives operators something no one else offers today.”
The product is powered by gripAI’s proprietary, patented pricing engine, which has been trained on over 2.5 billion bets and calculates every premium in real time.
Premiums are based on live odds, the number of selections in a bet, and the individual user’s profile, meaning pricing is tailored per player rather than offered as a flat cashback arrangement.
Play Insurance is also designed to work alongside existing sportsbook tools, including Cash Out, allowing players to cash out a bet while keeping their insurance coverage active.
Tal Hayon, CEO at gripAI, said: “Betting has always been all-or-nothing, and that’s exactly what we set out to change.”
Hayon continued: “Our AI prices protection fairly and instantly for every bet, and with LSports as our distribution partner, we can bring it to operators around the world at the speed the industry moves.”
LSports will distribute Play Insurance across its global network of operators, integrating the product into existing platforms through a lightweight setup built for fast deployment.
