DAZN Bet has officially launched its online sportsbook and casino in Ontario, marking the brand’s first entry into the North American market.
The platform went live in the province, offering a sportsbook described as tailored to Canadian preferences alongside a full suite of slots, table games, and live casino products.
DAZN EVP of Growth Markets Daniel Berthold had told Canadian Gaming Business last December that the company hoped to satisfy all regulatory obligations in Ontario by the first quarter of 2026.
After receiving an Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario licence in January, the launch took slightly longer than anticipated but the brand is now live as the regulated Ontario iGaming market’s latest entrant.
Valery Gelfman, CEO of DAZN Bet, spoke to the brand’s long-term ambitions in the Canadian market following the launch announcement.
“Canada is a market that values integrity and responsible play and we are entering Ontario with a product that is designed for long term sustainability,” said Gelfman.
Richard Rawlinson, managing director of DAZN Bet Canada, reinforced that sentiment, stating: “This is the beginning of a long-term commitment to the country.”
Ontario is only the first stop for DAZN Bet in Canada, with the brand having already secured its Alberta iGaming operator licence in late May.
DAZN Bet is among roughly 50 sites registered to operate when Alberta launches its regulated iGaming market on July 13.
DAZN has already established a strong foothold in Canada as a broadcaster, holding streaming rights to the NFL, MLB Network, English Premier League, UEFA competitions, major boxing, and LIV Golf.
DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev addressed the brand’s broader ambitions at ICE 2026 in Barcelona in January, distinguishing it from conventional betting operators.
“In a way, we are almost a little bit of a different beast in the standard of online betting companies, because we’re coming in as a broadcaster,” Segev said.
“We don’t want to create just another betting site,” Segev added, underlining DAZN’s intention to deliver a unified watch-and-bet experience unlike anything currently available in Ontario.
