Michigan’s regulated online casino market posted its highest ever monthly gross receipts in March, reaching $322.1 million and eclipsing the previous record of $315.8 million set in December 2025 by a margin of more than $6 million.
Combined with $50 million from online sports betting, the state’s operators delivered a total of $372.1 million in gross receipts for the month, an 18.9 percent increase from February’s total, according to figures published by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
FanDuel Casino led all operators with a record $85.8 million in March revenue, up approximately $18 million from its own performance in the same month a year earlier. BetMGM ranked second with $71 million, though its year-on-year growth was considerably more modest at 3 percent. DraftKings, which typically runs as a strong second in most regulated US states, actually declined year-on-year to $40 million, illustrating how competitive the Michigan market has become among the major operators.
The adjusted gross receipts figure, which strips out promotional spend, came in at $309.1 million for iGaming specifically, a 17.9 percent increase from February and 25.6 percent higher than March 2025. Sports betting adjusted gross receipts rose 28.6 percent from February to reach $32.7 million, with the sports betting handle climbing to $485.1 million, a 26.1 percent month-on-month jump that reflects both the March Madness period and cross-marketing effects between sports wagering and casino apps.
The tax revenue generated by Michigan’s online casino market in March was $64.1 million for the state, plus an additional $15.4 million for the city of Detroit and $23.6 million to other local jurisdictions. Those figures represent a meaningful fiscal contribution that is likely to feature prominently in political debates around iGaming expansion in other states that are still weighing whether to legalise online casino gaming.
Notably, the Michigan Gaming Control Board also approved bet365 to enter the iGaming market during the period covered by this report, adding the UK-based giant as a sixteenth operator with full commercial launch expected to be captured in April’s revenue figures. The regulator simultaneously reported that it has issued 45 cease-and-desist orders since December last year targeting companies operating illegally in the state, suggesting enforcement is being pursued alongside expansion.
Michigan’s performance for March is striking partly because it now outpaces both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, states that are more geographically concentrated in the densely populated northeastern corridor and which have historically dominated US iGaming revenue rankings. The combination of a large tribal casino network whose online partners are required to report revenue, a growing population of mobile-first younger gamblers, and sustained marketing investment from the top operators has created a market that is expanding faster than its population size alone would predict.
The sustainability question is a real one. Some analysts suggest that March’s strong numbers reflect an unusual alignment of calendar effects, including the 31-day month and March Madness cross-promotional activity, that may not repeat at the same level in April or May. The arrival of bet365 as a fresh competitor will also reshape the market dynamics among the existing operators in ways that are difficult to fully predict ahead of its first full month of operation.
