SOFTSWISS hosted an exclusive event near Lisbon ahead of the SBC Summit, bringing together international media, influencers, technology experts and industry leaders.
The gathering was dedicated to the key ideas behind the company’s 2027 iGaming Trends Report, which examines the future of the digital economy through an iGaming lens.
Elliott Gotkine, an Emmy-winning journalist and former CNN and Bloomberg TV presenter, moderated the event discussions.
Experts from SOFTSWISS, Amazon Web Services, Pentasia, WorldGaming and Google were among those who took part in the conversation.
The event centred on a central question shaping the digital economy: what iGaming can teach other industries, and what lessons it can take back from them.
A new chapter in this year’s report, titled “Beyond iGaming”, compares the sector with e-commerce, sports, film, gaming, streaming, e-pharma and crypto.
Alexandra Kavelich, deputy CMO at SOFTSWISS, said: “One of the new elements we introduced this year is the Digital Maturity Index. We assessed industries across six areas, including AI adoption, mobile-first infrastructure, digital customer acquisition, payments innovation, RegTech and data-driven decision-making. iGaming achieved a score of 4.67 out of 5 – the highest among the eight industries assessed.”
That score places iGaming ahead of all other digitally driven industries measured, signalling the sector’s advanced position in adopting and implementing modern digital tools.
Speakers also examined the growing use of AI in fraud prevention, cybersecurity, risk management, compliance and customer support across multiple industries.
The discussion raised important questions about governance, security and the role of human judgment as AI becomes embedded in critical business processes.
Regulation was another focal point, with speakers debating whether strong compliance capabilities can become a competitive advantage rather than simply a cost of market entry.
Olga Resiga, CBDO at SOFTSWISS, Robin Harrison, Global Content Director B2B at WorldGaming, and Kristina Medvedeva, Head of B2B Marketing at Google, discussed the next billion-dollar growth markets around the world.
The panel also explored how AI is changing the way consumers discover, explore and engage with digital products in regulated environments.
Building trust in regulated markets emerged as a consistent theme, with speakers noting that local knowledge and market-specific execution are essential for international growth strategies.
