SOFTSWISS has released its 2027 iGaming Trends report, offering one of the most comprehensive looks at the industry’s direction published to date.
Co-authored with WorldGaming, formerly known as Clarion, the report also features contributions from Amazon Web Services, bringing significant cross-sector credibility to the research.
The report draws on a survey of over 500 industry experts and analysis of more than 480,000 media headlines, making it one of the largest research efforts tracking iGaming narratives and shifts.
Running to 155 pages across five chapters, the publication covers global trends, regional outlook, hiring trends, cross-industry analysis, and the long-term direction of the iGaming sector.
Online gambling gross gaming revenue is forecast to climb from $349 billion in 2026 to $377.5 billion in 2027, before reaching $415.5 billion in 2028.
The report is supported by Tier-1 case studies providing real-life examples of business growth, market expansion, and measurable performance outcomes for operators across multiple regions.
A dataset from H2 Gambling Capital underpins the GGR growth projections, while Pentasia’s hiring outlook highlights the skills and roles expected to shape the industry’s near-term future.
Alexandra Kavelich, Deputy CMO at SOFTSWISS, outlined where she believes the next wave of competitive advantage will emerge for operators navigating an increasingly complex landscape.
Kavelich stated: “The next competitive advantage in iGaming will not come from content alone. It will come from regulatory readiness, secure payment journeys, intelligent risk management, relevant customer communication and platforms that can respond quickly to changing regulations.”
She added that fintech, e-commerce, and streaming have already set the standard in those areas, and operators that adapt those lessons effectively will be better positioned to grow responsibly and profitably.
Robin Harrison, Global Content Director B2B at WorldGaming, emphasised that scale alone is no longer sufficient for operators seeking sustained success across multiple jurisdictions.
Harrison said: “The industry is simultaneously becoming more global and more local. Regulation, tax, payments, competition and player behaviour vary significantly from market to market. Scale can get you into more jurisdictions, but it definitely doesn’t guarantee success.”
He further noted that the next generation of leading operators will be those that understand where local friction exists, how to ease it, and how to execute effectively against it.
The 2027 iGaming Trends report is available to download for free, giving operators, suppliers, and regulators across the industry open access to the full findings and action points.
