The UK gambling market has reached £17.5bn in gross gambling yield for the 12 months ending March 2026, according to figures published by the Gambling Commission.

Total GGY across all regulated sectors rose 4.4% year-on-year, reflecting continued strength in online gambling despite some pockets of decline elsewhere in the market.

Remote casino, betting and bingo combined generated the highest segment total at £8.3bn, representing a 6.9% increase from the previous reporting period.

Online casino was the standout performer within that group, recording a 14.8% surge in GGY to reach £5.7bn over the 12-month period.

Slots were a major driver of that online casino growth, with GGY from that product vertical climbing 15% to £4.8bn.

Remote betting moved in the opposite direction, posting a 6.6% decline in GGY to £2.45bn, though the strength of online casino more than compensated for that shortfall.

Customer deposits showed some softening during the period, with funds held in remote gambling accounts falling 13.9% year-on-year.

Land-based GGY also grew, rising a more modest 1.1% to £4.9bn, though performance across individual land-based sectors was noticeably mixed throughout the reporting period.

Arcades posted one of the stronger land-based results, with GGY increasing 10.7% to £800.1m, while adult gaming centres contributed £761.4m of that total, up 11.3% year-on-year.

Bingo also delivered solid growth in the land-based environment, with GGY climbing 8.2% to £703.8m across the reporting period.

Land-based casinos recorded only marginal progress, with GGY edging up just 0.4% to £934m despite ongoing consumer appetite for in-person gaming experiences.

Retail betting remained the largest single land-based segment at £2.42bn, though GGY in that channel fell 3.3%, continuing a trend of structural pressure on high-street wagering.

The number of licensed betting shops declined 3.6% to 5,617, marking the 12th consecutive reporting period in which the size of the retail estate has contracted.

Lottery GGY also moved upward during the period, contributing to the overall £4.3bn recorded across that segment of the regulated UK market.
