Betsson Group has officially launched its flagship Betsson brand in Belgium, replacing its existing betFIRST operation in the country with its primary global identity.
The move comes three years after the group’s initial acquisition of betFIRST, with the Stockholm-listed operator now aiming to grow worldwide recognition of its main brand.
Betsson Group acquired betFIRST for €120m in June 2023, completing a deal structured as €117m upfront with up to €3m in earnout payments subject to financial targets.
The rebrand, effective 5 October 2026, represents the most visible milestone in that integration, following a pattern the group has applied across several European markets.
Customers are set to receive platform upgrades, refreshed mobile apps, Betsson-branded live casino content, exclusive games, and access to international partnerships and fan engagement opportunities.
Jesper Svensson, Chief Executive Officer of Betsson Operations, commented: “This rebrand is a natural next step in our journey. By aligning our presence under the Betsson brand, we can unlock broader marketing synergies, strengthen our global identity, and continue delivering the high-quality experience that our customers know and trust.”
The firm’s Belgian betting operations will run alongside its infotainment brand, Betsson.sport, which provides content, news, scores, and fan engagement to Belgian audiences.
Betsson.sport has served as the main sponsor of Belgian football giant Club Brugge since the 2025/26 season, a deal made possible by its classification as an infotainment brand rather than a gambling operator.
Front-of-shirt gambling sponsorships are banned in Belgian sport, making the infotainment brand structure a critical component of Betsson’s commercial strategy in the country.
According to Blask data, Belgium ranks as the 28th biggest gambling market in the world and sits within Europe’s top 20 by size.
The betFIRST brand currently ranks as the ninth-largest operator in Belgium, giving Betsson a meaningful platform from which to build its flagship identity in the market.
With the rebrand now live, Betsson will be aiming to challenge established market leaders including Star Casino, Unibet, and bwin for greater market share.
Betsson will continue operating under its existing Belgian Gaming Commission licence, ensuring regulatory continuity throughout the transition for all existing customers.
The operation holds both an F1+ online sports-betting licence, which betFIRST was the first Belgian operator to obtain back in 2011, and an A+ online casino licence secured in 2024 through a partnership with Groupe Partouche’s Middelkerke Casino.
