Italy’s National Olympic Committee has joined forces with Sisal to launch a dedicated lottery draw designed to raise funds directly for Team Italia.
The initiative, called “Win for Team Italia,” represents the country’s first lottery draw of its kind, channelling proceeds to the Olympic team and its wider network of sports associations.
The launch was announced jointly by CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio and Sisal CEO Roberto Di Fonzo, marking a significant milestone for Italian sport funding.
The Vinci Italia draw was activated on 28 September across Sisal’s network of 35,000 retail points and its online platform, giving players nationwide access to the product.
Structured as a daily draw of 40 numbers, tickets are priced at €2 per combination, with opening jackpots guaranteeing a prize pool of €2 million each draw.
Of all proceeds generated, 65% is allocated to the player prize pool, while 27% of income is guaranteed to flow directly to CONI for funding Italy’s Olympic cycle.
Buonfiglio described the lottery as one of his first priorities after being elected CONI President in 2025, underscoring its personal and institutional importance to him.
The product is the result of a seven-year development process involving CONI, Sisal, the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency, and government representatives, reflecting the complexity of bringing it to market.
The scheme received government approval through Italy’s previous Budget Law, with Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti credited by Buonfiglio for recognising the value of sustainable Olympic funding.
“After 23 years, we are reviving the tradition through a game whose benefits will be passed on to sporting activities,” Buonfiglio said, referencing Italian sport’s broader competitive legacy.
He added that “the credit goes to the successes of our athletes, starting with the Tokyo Olympic Games, moving on to Paris, Milano Cortina, the many World and European Championships, and finally the Mediterranean Games.”
CONI was clear in emphasising that Vinci Italia is a lottery product rather than a sports-betting proposition, distinguishing it from other forms of gambling in the Italian market.
