Playtech Says Evolution-Commissioned Spectrum Report Backs Key Black Cube Investigation Findings

Playtech has welcomed the full publication of the Spectrum Report, arguing the document corroborates several findings from the original Black Cube investigation into rival supplier Evolution.

The LSE-listed firm contends that the report, commissioned by Evolution itself, supports concerns raised by Black Cube around the availability of Evolution games in grey and black markets.

Playtech also noted the report highlights the regulatory implications of Evolution’s practices and indicates the company does not proactively ensure customer compliance with contract terms.

Critically, Spectrum was unable to confirm or refute a number of Black Cube’s findings because Evolution failed to provide information requested during the review process.

That missing information included data that would have allowed Spectrum to establish whether gaming sessions took place in Iran, Syria, and Sudan, along with revenue reports for those jurisdictions.

The report’s publication follows months in which Evolution opposed its disclosure, citing concerns that it could reveal sensitive proprietary financial information belonging to the company.

Playtech noted that a filing submitted by Black Cube on September 8, 2026, in connection with Black Cube’s ongoing litigation with Evolution AB, contains the Spectrum Report in full.

“Playtech is pleased that the Spectrum Report is now public, and welcomes the opportunity for the court, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to review the document in its entirety,” the company stated.

Playtech added: “Playtech stands by its decision to commission the original Black Cube investigation. The company remains very confident that the court proceedings will confirm the credibility and legitimacy thereof and the significant concerns it raised.”

Evolution has maintained an opposing view throughout, previously characterising the Spectrum Report as exonerating the company rather than raising further questions about its conduct.

Evolution Chief Executive Officer Martin Carlesund recently claimed the firm has “systematically been progressing and winning in court, that’s taken four years,” and expects the dispute to last “many years” still.

Despite the ongoing legal turbulence, Evolution’s shares have risen by over 37% so far in 2026, a notable performance against a backdrop of declining stock values across many gambling companies.

Playtech has also outperformed broader market trends, with its own stock recording a 46% rise over the same period, suggesting investors in both firms remain largely undeterred by the dispute.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement recently conducted its own investigation into the underlying allegations, with the Spectrum Report forming only part of the material considered.

Neither company shows any sign of backing down, and with court proceedings ongoing and regulatory scrutiny continuing, this high-profile supplier rivalry looks set to run for some time yet.
