Playtech Welcomes Release Of Spectrum Gaming Group Report Into Evolution Compliance Practices

Playtech has publicly welcomed the release of a long-awaited report commissioned by Evolution to examine allegations originally made by investigative firm Black Cube.

The report was produced by Spectrum Gaming Group and had been created several years ago, only becoming public now as part of ongoing litigation between Evolution and Black Cube.

While Spectrum’s report rejected several of Black Cube’s key allegations, it did not clear Evolution entirely, raising notable concerns about compliance practices and market access.

Spectrum Gaming Group confirmed it did not believe Evolution had engaged in illegal practices, and specifically refuted claims that Evolution accepted cash payments or made games available in sanctioned countries.

However, Playtech pointed to findings indicating Evolution was aware of the countries from which its games were being accessed, while failing to take proactive steps to address the situation.

Spectrum reported that Evolution “does not take any proactive steps” to ensure that customer-facing gambling operators using its products “are complying with the terms of the contracts.”

Playtech stated the report corroborates fundamental aspects of Black Cube’s original investigation, including concerns around game availability in prohibited markets and a lack of proactive customer monitoring.

Spectrum was also unable to confirm or refute several findings because Evolution did not provide data requested during the review, including information related to gaming sessions in Iran, Syria, and Sudan.

Playtech argued that Evolution’s reluctance to release the report was not about protecting sensitive financial information, but rather about concealing what it called “significant” compliance issues described as “problematic” by Spectrum.

The supplier added that those issues “place Evolution in a precarious situation with law enforcement officials,” according to the Spectrum Report’s own language.

“Playtech is pleased that the Spectrum Report is now public, and welcomes the opportunity for the court, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to review the document in its entirety,” the supplier said.

Playtech added: “Playtech stands by its decision to commission the original Black Cube investigation. We remain very confident that the court proceedings will confirm the credibility and legitimacy thereof and the significant concerns it raised.”

Evolution had previously set out its position in an October 2025 press release, accusing Playtech Software Limited of commissioning Black Cube to produce and disseminate a 2021 report it described as containing knowingly false and inflammatory claims.

Evolution characterised the original Black Cube report as an anti-competitive effort intended to cause substantial harm to its business, claiming the dissemination of the report caused multi-billion dollar damage to the company.

Playtech countered that Evolution spent months publicly claiming the Spectrum Report exonerated it, while simultaneously blocking its release on the grounds that disclosure could reveal sensitive proprietary financial information.
