BlackRock Pushes Entain PLC Stake Back Above 5% Voting Rights Threshold

BlackRock, Inc. has increased its total holdings in Entain PLC to 5.01% of voting rights, crossing the key 5% regulatory disclosure threshold once again.

The move was confirmed through a regulatory filing that notified Entain of the threshold crossing on August 3, 2026.

BlackRock completed the notification at its London office located at 12 Throgmorton Avenue, one of the firm’s primary European bases of operation.

The investment giant’s position includes 4.06% of voting rights held through a combination of direct and indirect share ownership in the gambling operator.

An additional 0.95% of the total stake is held through financial instruments, bringing the combined figure to just over the critical 5% mark.

The figures reflect BlackRock’s position as of July 31, 2026, giving a clear snapshot of where the firm stood at the close of that trading period.

BlackRock’s total holdings in Entain represent 32,264,354 voting rights across the various instruments and ownership structures involved in the position.

Of that total, 26,038,814 shares are held as direct voting rights, making up the largest single component of BlackRock’s overall stake in the company.

BlackRock’s previous position had sat below the 5% threshold, meaning this latest move marks a deliberate effort to rebuild its influence within the FTSE-listed gambling group.

Entain, which operates some of the world’s most recognised betting and gaming brands, continues to attract significant institutional interest despite ongoing strategic and regulatory pressures across the industry.

The crossing of the 5% disclosure threshold is a notable moment for both parties, as it requires formal notification under UK financial regulations and signals a meaningful commitment from one of the world’s largest asset managers.

BlackRock managing a position of this size in Entain underlines the continued appetite among major institutional investors for exposure to the global gambling sector.
