Continent 8 Technologies has appointed Mike Small as its new chief executive, ending Michael Tobin’s 28-year tenure at the helm of the company he founded.
Small officially assumed the role on 15 July 2026, with Tobin transitioning to chairman after leading the business since its launch in 1998.
The leadership change arrives as Continent 8 pursues an ambitious expansion of its global footprint across cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure and AI-enabled technology services.
Small brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology sector to the position, having held senior roles across several major global organisations.
Most recently, he served as president of Akkodis North America and US country president of The Adecco Group, overseeing technology, engineering and managed services while directing AI strategy.
He has also held senior leadership positions at IBM, Hewlett Packard, Capgemini, Sitel Group and VXI & SYMBIO Global Solutions throughout his career.
Over the past year, Small worked alongside Continent 8 as a strategic board advisor, supporting the executive leadership team as part of a structured succession plan.
Tobin described the handover as a carefully considered process, expressing strong confidence in the incoming chief executive’s credentials and vision.
“After 28 remarkable years leading Continent 8, I am incredibly proud of what our team has built and achieved,” Tobin said.
“This transition has been thoughtfully planned, and I have complete confidence in Mike’s ability to lead the company into its next chapter.”
Tobin added that Small’s track record in scaling global technology businesses made him the ideal candidate to build on the company’s existing foundation.
“His experience in scaling global technology businesses and his deep understanding of our customers and strategy makes him the ideal leader to build on the strong foundation we have created,” Tobin said.
In his new chairman role, Tobin will focus on governance, long-term strategy and key stakeholder relationships while continuing to support the leadership transition.
Small, meanwhile, acknowledged the strength of the business he is now tasked with leading into its next phase of growth.
“Continent 8 has built an exceptional reputation for delivering mission-critical technology solutions to customers operating in highly regulated and latency-sensitive environments,” Small said.
“Having worked closely with the company over the last 12 months, I have seen first-hand the strength of the business, the talent of our people, and the opportunities ahead,” he added.
Small also outlined his priorities, pledging to deepen customer partnerships and accelerate innovation across the company’s high-performance solutions portfolio.
Founded in 1998, Continent 8 has grown into one of the iGaming sector’s largest infrastructure providers, supporting operators and suppliers with managed hosting, cloud, connectivity and cybersecurity services.
The company now operates a network of more than 100 connected data centres spanning four continents and more than 30 US states.
The appointment arrives at a pivotal moment for infrastructure providers, with Continent 8 identifying AI-enabled infrastructure as one of its core strategic growth areas going forward.
