BetHog, the online crypto casino and sportsbook founded by the creators of FanDuel, is set to permanently close its doors on 31 July 2026.
The platform’s parent company announced the shutdown on 20 July, giving players until the end of the month to withdraw any remaining funds.
BetHog will cease operations having been live for less than two years, having launched in November 2024 under former FanDuel duo Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones.
The closure makes way for the company’s full focus on Sentient Studios, its AI-powered live dealer business that has already attracted significant industry attention.
Sentient Studios was formally announced in April 2026, alongside news that the company had secured $10 million in a Series A funding round.
The business was designed from the outset to replace traditional live dealer infrastructure with AI-powered alternatives built specifically for online casino operators worldwide.
At the time of Sentient Studios’ launch, there was no indication that BetHog would be wound down, making this week’s announcement a notable strategic shift.
“The move is driven by real market demand,” the company said in a statement, adding that “Sentient Studios is the only company with an operational AI dealer product currently on the market.”
The company also confirmed that “BetHog’s engineering team has already shifted focus to Sentient Studios’ AI dealer” and that “the underlying technology is being folded into Sentient Studios.”
This is not the company’s first step into AI-driven gaming, having rolled out AI blackjack dealer Sunny through BetHog back in October 2025.
Sunny is now available in 12 languages and became one of the most played games on the BetHog platform before the closure decision was made.
Sentient Studios operates on a revenue share model with no setup fees, monthly minimums, or long-term contracts, a structure designed to lower barriers to adoption for operators.
The company said that since launching a few months ago, Sentient Studios has “drawn interest from tier-one operators” looking to license the technology.
Several operators are already in discussions to deploy the AI dealer offering, with some expected to go live with the product later in 2026.
The B2B platform enables casino operators to run AI-driven live dealer games without depending on traditional studio staffing models, representing a meaningful shift in how live casino content could be delivered at scale.
