PopOK, an Isle of Man iGaming solutions firm, has become a sponsor of Botswana’s flagship horse racing event, the TT Cup Challenge Horse Racing Event.
The company backed the ninth edition of the TT Cup Challenge, which took place on Saturday 27 June 2026 and drew 3,500 spectators, the largest attendance in the event’s history.
Botswana is increasingly recognised as an emerging market within the broader African betting and gaming industry, with its regulator actively encouraging new market entrants.
The country’s economy has shown consistent year-on-year growth, with the African Development Bank projecting expansion of 1.2% in 2026 and 3.5% in 2027, making it an attractive destination for gambling operators.
Notable operators have already moved to establish a footprint in the market, including Sun Bet, the online betting arm of South African giant Sun International, which launched in Botswana in March 2025.
Super Group’s Betway also entered the Botswana market in May 2025, further underlining the country’s growing appeal to international iGaming brands.
The TT Cup Challenge is widely regarded as one of Botswana’s most anticipated community sporting events, celebrating the country’s horse racing tradition and drawing together families and local communities each year.
PopOK worked alongside long-standing event partners, including the Botswana Gambling Authority and the Ministry of Sport and Arts, as well as TT Cup founder Mr. Tymon, to help deliver an engaging experience for all attendees.
The company held meetings with Moruntshi Kemorwale, Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Gambling Authority, and Jacob Kelebeng, Minister of Sport and Arts, with discussions centred on the future of the country’s gaming sector and opportunities for continued collaboration.
“The sponsorship reflects PopOK Gaming’s broader strategy of building meaningful partnerships in key international markets while supporting initiatives that promote community engagement and responsible industry development,” the company said.
PopOK has been active in launching a range of new iGaming products throughout 2026, with the TT Cup sponsorship representing a wider push to deepen engagement with emerging African markets.
Following the event’s conclusion, PopOK Gaming extended its appreciation to the organisers, partners, participants, and thousands of visitors who contributed to what the company described as a memorable celebration.
