Nederlandse Loterij has appointed Ageeth Bakker as its new Chief Financial and Risk Officer, with the role taking effect from 1 November 2026.
The Dutch national lottery operator is the largest gambling company in the Netherlands, and Bakker’s arrival is designed to reinforce its internal financial and risk management structures.
Bakker joins a senior leadership team that includes Chief Executive Officer Arjan Blok, Chief Technology Innovation Officer Maartje Geven, and Chief Compliance Officer Arno de Jong.
Raymond Knops, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Nederlandse Loterij, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, welcoming her credentials in regulated industries.
Knops said: “The RvC is pleased to welcome a very experienced director like Ageeth Bakker as CFRO of Nederlandse Loterij. Her extensive expertise in finance and risk and a career in regulated sectors are a perfect fit for this board position.”
Bakker steps into the role following several years as CFRO of insurance company Bovemij Group, where she has worked since 2019 and also served on the Board of Directors.
Prior to Bovemij, she held the position of Chairman and Director of mutual insurance society Centramed Mutual Guarantee Group, building a strong record across financial and risk-focused environments.
Bakker also brings 13 years of experience with Achmea Group, where she held various management roles including Financial Director of subsidiaries Centraal Beheer and Avéro Achmea.
Speaking on her appointment, Bakker said: “What particularly appeals to me in the Dutch Lottery is the combination of a strong social mission and a leading position in the gambling sector. With 10 trusted brands, the Dutch Lottery offers players a safe and responsible range of lotteries and online gambling, the proceeds of which benefit society.”
She added: “I am happy to contribute to that. I look forward to working with the board and all colleagues to continue building a successful and future-proof organisation, so that we can continue to increase our social contribution.”
Nederlandse Loterij operates 10 brands across the Dutch market, including the transnational Eurojackpot lottery game and the TOTO sports betting and online casino platform.
The state-owned enterprise is the largest financial backer of Dutch sports, with social contributions from its proceeds exceeding €200 million in 2025.
